a young prodigy[background information]
Tony Stark is the only son of weapons developer, and contributor to the Manhattan Project, Howard Stark and Maria Stark. He was born in Long Island, NY, and from an early age he proved how brilliant his mind was. At age four he built his first circuit board. Then, his first engine. And as if that wasn't enough, he graduated at age seventeen from MIT with advanced degrees in physics and engineering. On December 16th, 1991, Howard and Maria were killed in a car accident, leaving Tony with Stark Industries and the fortune that came along with it. Obadiah Stane, an old friend of Howard's and the family, helped Tony in learning the ropes of the business, and at age 21 he was able to take charge of his father's company. With his genius designs and innovative mind, Tony was able to expand Stark Industries globally, and become the top weapons manufacturer in the world. With this change, Tony Stark's image also changed. He went from being the young boy genius to a brilliant billionaire playboy that both worked and played hard. Life was meant to live to the fullest, after all.

As the years wore on, Tony grew into a worldwide known CEO and billionaire playboy. The reputation never phased him - if anything, the more people called him that the more he'd do it. Women are one of his weaknesses. He wouldn't say no to men. Why descriminate? As the fortune and the list of women grew throughout the years, Tony Stark thrived. Stark Industries did great, its stock soared, and the Merchant of Death, as some called him, was able to live on. In 2008, however, in a weapons test in Afghanistan, Tony's convoy was attacked and he was held hostage by a terrorist group called The Ten Rings. During the attack he was severely injured by shrapnel from bombs that were made by Stark Industries as well, and because of this injury Tony now wears an arc reactor that acts like a magnet to hold the shrapnel in place since otherwise it would shred his heart apart. Yinsen, the man that saved him by performing the surgery, managed to help Tony do something. Be better. Instead of giving in to the terrorist demands and building a Jericho missle, Tony built something else. Something better. An suit made of iron that allowed him to escape the hell hole he had been kept in. Once back at home, with the new reality in mind, Tony shut down the weapon aspect of his company. Obadiah and the board betrayed him, but he continued on nonetheless. Tony had found a purpose, something to erase the mistakes he had done and find a way to hopefully save himself by saving others. He may not be what superheroes are made of, and he's not the superhero type. But he's still a superhero. Better than that, he's Iron Man.

After his fight with Obadiah (aka Iron Monger), Tony revealed to the world that he's Iron Man but he still hasn't revealed to the media that it was Stane the one that had wanted to kill him. He's dealing with a post traumatic stress disorder that he refuses to aknowledge, he's trying to clean up his company after Obadiah's deals under the table, and considering joining SHIELD. Tony keeps busy as much as he can. He's still the flirtatious billionaire, but he's dealing with his new reality and learning to live with it. ~~Including, of course, the feelings that he feels with one Miss Pepper Potts.~~

This Tony is movie-based and his starting point is right from the end of the movie so it is now known he's Iron Man. However, this Tony did not release to the public the fact that it was Obadiah Stane the one he fought Iron Man outside of Stark Industries.

Also, since Tony is movie!verse and mostly going along with movie!canon, he hasn't actually met any other Marvel superheroes. Unless it's Hulk, for example, but that's because it ties in with the movie (Hulk).
